About
Welcome to Wilderlove.
Wilderlove was birthed out a love for a small-town to inspire creativity in our community and beyond. Rachael Miller and Sonya Chisenhall began creating and crafting together first as roommates in their shared home, then for a local farmers market, local school play productions, and Hickory Ridge Church. Rachael began managing Gallery 16 during a summer off, from teaching third grade, in 2015. During that time, Sonya began repurposing furniture, and together we began creating a selection of handmade items to sell at Gallery 16. We began to grow quickly, adding more local handmade and vintage vendors, and two years later rebranded as Wilderlove.
Often customers ask where we found the name of our business. It comes from the John Mark McMillian song, “Wilderlove.” The song speaks of the conflict of love, of trying to tame the untamable nature of love. It’s much like the conflict of creative work, entrepreneurship, and forging something new in an old place. A line from the song says “the Wilderlove is hidden within us and we wrestle with it.” Creative work and entrepreneurship creates a beautiful tension between what is and what will be. We wrestle to create sometimes, feeling we are ill-equipped to complete the task, yet dream to conquer a new field of skill. Our heart is to provide a space where community and creativity come together and inspire you to create what you never believed possible
